This Is Still In Stock: Ab Rollers

/

Lately, it seems impossible to find any fitness equipment to outfit a home gym. Public gyms and health clubs are still operating at limited capacity and the situation doesn’t seem to be improving anytime soon. In the mean time exercise equipment seems to be worth its weight in gold.

It seems like America’s obesity epidemic and poor state of public health are just going to get worse… Or so it seems.

If you know what to look for, you can still find useful things ready to ship. Recently, I got myself a cheap ab wheel from CAP Barbell. Sure, you can really only do one exercise on it, but for 10 bucks it’s an absolute steal at this moment in time. Before I got an actual ab wheel, I would do ab rollers with a dumbbell handle and a set of plastic plates because I’m cheap. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Don’t waste your money on the fancy ab wheels. Those are probably bullshit. Just get a cheap one. It’s served many strong individuals well. Don’t get distracted by shiny things.

If you’ve never used an ab wheel before, be ready to be humbled. Start out on your knees. I like to start with my hips straight, kind of like the start of a push up. With the roller in your hands, start rolling it forward. You should feel your abs turn on and brace. Keep your back perfectly flat and don’t let your back arch and collapse. If you’re wondering how far you need to roll it out, your body will let you know when to stop. Roll it back to the starting position. Now, when you’re doing this exercise, make sure you’re staying as tight as possible through the abs and shoulder girdle the entire time. If you slacken, you will collapse. Do these for 3-5 sets of as many as you can while maintaining perfect technique.

That’s it. Simple but brutal, just the way fitness should be.

This series of articles is about equipment that you can still find in the pandemic that’s actually useful. Bullshit is still not allowed in my gym.

I have no affiliation with CAP Barbell and will not make any financial gain from this post. If that changes, I will be fully transparent about it.
